Kelly Richey Guitar Rig 2017
Kelly Richey Guitar Rig 2017: Check out my new guitar rig! This set up requires two separate pedal boards. I have several reasons for splitting them up– a single pedal board is extremely heavy, and having the option to angle the board on the left when on stage makes it easier to access pedals quickly.
The board on the left is all I NEED for a gig with my band and the board to the right must be added to my solo shows because it have my Pigtronics Infinity Looper, Looptimus foot controller for Ableton Live, and my iConnect 4 channel audio interface / preamp for vocals, guitar, Ableton loops and beats. My iConnect runs into my computer and out to my PA system for live sound amplification or to my studio recording set up.
Here’s a photo of my new studio setup. I’m currently working on a new recording project– I’m excited and inspired. Check out my setup below and stay tuned for a new video tutorial!

Gear Update: I’ve added 5 new Strymon effects units. Strymon effects are the sweetest effects on the market today. Their sound quality is pristine and their deep rich tones are stunning! As I expand into the world of ambient soundscapes– trip hop instrumentals, ambient space music, and trance blues, I have access every sound imaginable with a tap of my foot. This collection of effects allows me to sound like I’m playing strings, synths, bass, clean and/or over driven guitar, and this just scratches the surface.
My first Strymon in the chain is the OB.1 Optical Compressor & Clean Boost:
Link with Description: OB.1 combines studio quality, beautifully transparent analog optical compression with a Clean Boost with EQ curves designed to super-charge your favorite amp and reveal its true character. Featuring an all-analog signal path with premium components throughout, a high-impedance input, and very low noise circuitry, OB.1 is perfect for the number one spot in your signal chain. It’s the missing piece you’ve been searching for.
In addition to my Ibanez Tube Screamers I’ve added the Strymon Sunset Dual Overdrive:

Link with Description: Two pedals at once. Sunset is really two customizable overdrive pedals, independently selectable and flexibly routable, designed and voiced for complementary tones when stacked. Six distinct circuits each feel and react differently in your hands, two at once, all in one convenient package. Push your amp any way you want, from transparent “more amp” to heavy saturated fuzz, and all the best places in between.
The next Strymon in the chain is the modulation machine called the Mobius Multidimensional Modulation:

Link with Description: Infinitely Organic. Some might say we’re driven. When our engineers lock themselves in our sound design labs for months on end, you might say we’re obsessed. We have been dedicating ourselves to forging a collection of the most organic, luscious, expressive, and versatile modulation effects ever heard.
It was an enormous mission—we painstakingly studied the nuances of the legendary modulations of celebrated tremolo effects, phaser pedals, chorus units, and more from the last five decades. We didn’t stop at faithfully capturing these warm and lush vintage sounds—we expanded their vocabulary with extended versatility and sonic possibilities never before heard.
My last two Strymons effects are the last effects in the chain . I’ve added the Strymon Timeline Multidimensional Delay and the Strymon Big Sky.
Strymon Timeline Multidimensional Delay: I’ve added the Timeline delay in conjuction with my TC Electronics Triple Flashback Delay. I use the Triple Flashback for standard 480 ms delay and ping pong delay and I use the Strymon Timeline for all other delay sounds– the list is too infinite to begin. Be sure to check out the video so you can see what it does!

Link with Description: Inspiration Machine. When we decided to create a studio-class stereo delay effects pedal, we knew we must go well beyond what has been done in the past—in sound quality, sonic flexibility, hardware design, and processing power. We spent months locked up in the Strymon sound design labs dreaming up the most spacious, lush, creative, and tweakable delay effects ever heard. It was a monumental task—a relentless study of delays and their nuances, and a continuous pursuit of innovative and musically inspirational sounds. Utilizing a ridiculously powerful SHARC DSP, every drop of processing power is harnessed.
Last in my chain the the Strymon Big Sky Reverb! This reverb is absolutely amazing, it does it ALL! Be sure to check out the video and experience it for yourself.

To create a reverb experience as natural, beautiful, and immersive as BigSky required tremendous feats of sound engineering and artistic imagination. Using the fundamentals of acoustical science as our beacon, we carefully studied and scientifically analyzed reverb technology from the past fifty years. We faithfully captured the essence of these classic sounds, and forged ahead to dream up our vision of reverbs from the future.
